Project Overview
SaCSA has conducted a full audit and review of superseded and deleted units of competency in the SHB Hairdressing and Beauty, SFL Floristry, SIF Funeral Services, SIT Tourism, Travel & Hospitality and SIR Retail sectors to ensure the training packages are up-to-date and meet the needs of stakeholders.
Through strong engagement with industry and training providers, we identified a high number of outdated (superseded or deleted) units of competency within these training packages. In response, SaCSA undertook a detailed desktop audit to map and assess these units, pinpointing where updates are needed to ensure qualifications reflect current industry standards. This work lays the foundation for future improvements to training products, supporting better outcomes for learners and employers across our sectors.
Qualifications Reviewed
Consultation
A number of consultation opportunities were provided as part of this project throughout November and December 2024.
These included a Broadcast Session in November 2024 to confirm suitable replacement units and discuss the relevance of deleted content, as well as a stakeholder survey that closed on 4 December 2024 to gather detailed feedback on the proposed changes.

Training providers may continue to enrol learners into the superseded training products until the transition end date of 13 August 2026. Equivalent Training Products
Providers may commence enrolments into the updated training products as soon as they are released on 13 August 2025.
Not Equivalent Training Products
Providers may commence enrolments into the updated training product once it has been added to their scope of registration. View the Australian Skills Quality Authority’s guidance on changes to scope of registration, or contact your state based regulator.
General Implementation Recommendations
The transition period for this update is 12 months.
SaCSA recommends that training providers review their Scope of Registration, develop a transition plan for the updated training product, review and update their Training and Assessment Strategy and Learning and Assessment Resources and communicate with their students and key stakeholders regarding the changes.
