Why are some numbers different to those on other sources?
Differences between the SaCSA dashboard and other sources are usually explained by variations in:
- the data source,
- the time period,
- the level of aggregation and
- the methodology used in the calculation.
Users should check accompanying data notes and definitions when comparing figures across sources.
For example, for Retail Manager (General), the SaCSA dashboard shows a part-time proportion of 24%, while the JSA website reports 26%. JSA notes that people classified as ‘Employed, away from work’ in the 2021 Census, around 8% of total employment, are excluded from their denominator. The SaCSA dashboard includes these workers, resulting in a different figure.
