Scoping Creative Futures: Career Journey Mapping

Mapping career journeys across technical, creative and administrative roles within the Australian Arts sector.

Project Overview

This Implementation Promotion and Monitoring (IPM) project is designed to address ongoing workforce shortages by uncovering the gaps, challenges and opportunities within career pathways across the Arts.

The Career Journey Maps will equip SaCSA with valuable insights to build on the findings of the Creative Workforce Scoping Study and uncover:

  • key drivers of career success, including the role of training, education and skills development at various career stages
  • factors contributing to workforce attrition and poor retention
  • the impact of systemic issues, including working conditions, access to opportunities, funding models and representation on career progression
  • the effectiveness of current training programs and mentorship initiatives
  • gaps in existing education and training offerings, along with opportunities for new training product development
  • critical differences across the various Arts sub-sectors.

These insights will enable SaCSA to conduct a comprehensive gap analysis, identifying where strategic interventions are most needed and what type of support will improve retention and long-term outcomes for the Arts workforce.
